Radha Krishna Mandir

History

Since the establishment of the Cape Hindu Cultural Society, it was the aim of the Society that a Mandir be built for the benefit of the community. A decision was made that the Radha Krishna Mandir be built adjacent to the Cultural Centre (also housing the Gandhi Memorial School and Cultural Hall). The Mandir was built in phases. The foundation ceremony was performed in August 1986.

Inauguration Ceremony

The Dome-Crown inauguration ceremony was held on 20 April 1992. From 8 April 1993 to 11 April 1993, the inauguration ceremony of the Radha Krishna Mandir was held, which included the consecration (pran-pratishtha) ceremony for the murtees and this marked the official opening of the Radha Krishna Mandir. Since that date, the Cape Hindu Cultural Society has celebrated all the religious events on the Hindu Calendar in the Mandir and has also hosted discourses by several visiting swamis and spiritual masters.
